the first 25 pencil crayons of my subscription set of 500 arrived today!
looks like my first batch is set #5 and it includes a fine set of reddish hues, each with an awesome name, written in both japanese and english. fun names like 'plum crazy', 'scarlett o'hara' and 'little red wagon'. funny, i picture scarlett o'hara as a deep, rich emerald colour...
i'm not sure if i'll keep going until i get all 500 because, let's face it, that is a hell of a lot of pencil crayons, but i love the idea and the potential so much. and really - i need all of those colours. now... do i play with them as i go along, or wait until i get them all?

Oh definitely play! It might be fun to do a monochromatic series and really explore all the different shads of each color. You could throw in a complimentary accent here and there, it may be too tempting not to :). Love the packaging! What fun.
The anal retentive side of me says you need to wait. otherwise, you'll be left with little nibs in the red range by the time the final batch arrives. However, Katie's suggestion sounds very cool.
maybe just a couple of photos of each set when it's crispy and new...the some type of photo collection display to show them all at once.
oh wow.... they are so pretty... a part of me would want to use them, and a part of me would want to wait. thanks for letting me know about the abbotsford apple farm... i may have to try and convince the hubs to go for a long car ride!
