shop update!

finally! after a coon's age, there's new cute stuff in my etsy shop!

bunny plushies - i've given them all little quips and greetings. so far there are two to choose from: bonjour bunny and yoo hoo bunny. more to come!

tooth fairy pillows - they're made from organic cotton flannel and various cute japanese fabrics on the back pocket. each comes with twenty tiny envelopes, one for each wee baby tooth.

cute and cuter 1" pinback buttons, the same ones i've put into the got craft swag bags. i had extras and i love them so much!

one of my favourite items to make are these zakka tartlet pincushions. they're small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and made using tiny bits of my favourite japanese fabrics.

and there's more to come soon! a few other items and more styles of the ones listed...

if you're local and want to save on shipping costs, definitely swing past my table at this weekend's got craft? show. sunday, may 2nd at the royal canadian legion on commercial drive in vancouver.

craft fail

stumbled across this new community blog recently - craft fail. check it out for some good laughs, like this heavy, hot, rather unattractive sweater:

the craft disasters are posted by their creators, so it's all in good fun. looking through the posts and photos i actually thought a lot of them weren't so bad at all, compared to the disasters i create! the first bibbler i made for cole wouldn't have fit a cat, and you should have seen the pants i tried to make him! or the many, many times i've sewn things with a front, back and batting layer together incorrectly. argh!

want to post your own disasters? i do! first i'll have to take a photo of one, rather than just ripping it apart for scraps, burying it in my memory and my "finish this later" drawer or, in the case of poorly fitting handmade clothing - stuffing it into my sally ann donation bag.

to post your own fails: read up on how-to and then get that camera and sense of humour out. ;-)

hey - i have to start somewhere, and this post is it.

so i figured it's about time to start a new blog, one devoted to handmade crafty-type stuff. i found there were often many posts i wanted to write on my personal blog that were kind of out of the stream of baby and family updates. and honestly, it would be nice to have a fresh place to do that.

i'm hoping to use this space for updates on my own crafting adventures, announcing lovely new additions to my etsy shop, happenings and events in the local indie craft community here in vancouver and of course a collection of the coolest crafts online.

and really, i hope that if you're reading this blog you'll comment! i'm always looking for new and familiar crafty folks to connect with, fresh ideas and inspiration.
